For these three monitors BenQ has used panels from AU Optronics, which is responsible for the bulk of Vertical Alignment panels out there. They are claimed to be 'true' 8-bit panels, compared to the dithering solution applied to the 6-bit displays of most TN and e-IPS panels. For most uses this difference isn't noticeable, but for colour-critical applications accurate colour rendering is very important.
