Today the information embargo regarding the NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 Ti 448 has ended. Like the name already suggests it features 448 shader cores and therefore offers performance quite close to the GTX 570. For this review we got a model from ASUS that features their powerful DirectCUII cooler. This means that we have the perfect basis to show what this chip can and what it can't.
On the following pages we will show you the
strenghts and weaknesses of the ASUS ENGTX560 TI 448 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5.

Technical data / specifications
With this card NVIDIA
fills the gap between GTX 570 and GTX 560 Ti. The GTX 560 Ti 448 doesn't have
the GF114 chip as a basis, NVIDIA equips its latest garphics card with a
high-end GF110. The only difference to the GTX 570 is the number of shader cores
which are activated. This new model comes with 448 shader cores activated. In
comparison the GTX 570 can rely on 480 shader cores. Memory interface as well as
memory clock speed are the same as with the GTX 570 - 320 Bit and 3'800 MHz.
A special feature of any DirectCU graphics card from ASUS is the cooler. It
measures about twice the size of the card and comes with plenty of cooling
capacity to keep the card cool and quiet under any circumstance. Because the
cards cooler doesn't move air out of the case we recommend to install it in a
case that that is well ventilated. Otherwise there might be hot spots. In idle
conditions the card does not get warmer than 35°C and under heavy Furmark load
we didn't see more than 75°C.

Preview / Delivery
The ENGTX560 TI
448 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 comes in quite a big box. The delivery includes a manual, an installation CD,
one power adaptor
as well as a DVI-to-VGA-adaptor and an SLI bridge.

Overclocking
For our overclocking test we were
using GPU TweakIt which allows you to increase voltages and
clock frequencies. Feeding the GPU with the maximum voltage of 1.10 Volt resulted in a maximum clock speed of 940 MHz on the GPU. Regarding the memory we were able to
squeeze 4'050 MHz out of these chips.

3DMark 11
3DMark 11 is
Futuremarks latest benchmark for the entire graphical subsystem. The
benchmark uses DirectX 11 and it supports all recent features which can
possibly generate high load on a GPU. Therefore you find tessellation,
compute shader calculations, divers lighting effects and different
depth of filed animations. Following we publish values regarding the
performance preset of 3DMark 11.

3DMark Vantage
3DMark Vantage is able to squeeze nearly everything out of a
recent system. Therefore the feature liste is also pretty long:
DirectX10, FP16-HDR, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping,
GPU-physics simulation and different shader effects are being used to
even make recent high-end systems struggle.

Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil uses nearly every modern
rendering technology: HDR, Hemisphere Lighting, Soft Shadows, Soft
Particles, Field- und Motion-Blur oder auch Alpha to Coverage and
static Ambient Occlusion. Furthermore Resident Evil 5 has been
optimized for multicore architectures and already comes DirectX11
ready. By using the DirectX9 as well as the DirectX10 benchmark we can
again show you CPU-scaling with low resolutions and the compared to the
CPU overproportional influence of the graphics card at high
resolutions.

The ASUS GTX 560 Ti 448
is a yet powerful but still silent graphics card. Thanks to the huge
DirectCUII cooler it stays cool and silent even under heavy load. But
the good cooling capacity comes at a price. The DirectCUII cooler needs
three slot and therefore block two additional slots. |

performanc is what we expected. It's between the GTX 570 and GTX 560 Ti
but very close to the GTX 570. Therefore it is possible to play games at
high resolutions with activated anti aliasing as well as anisotropic
filtering. There really isn't a lot to say. |

this card really is fun but unfortunately it stops quite quickly. Using
ASUS TweakIt one can simply pull the regulator for GPU and memory clock
to the maximum. In this case this results in 940 MHz GPU clock speed and
4'050 MHz on the memory. It is possible to run 3DMark 11 under these
conditions but with Furmark it takes about two to three minutes and the
system will freeze. |

If you should be looking
for a graphics card that offers plenty of performance, a very good
cooler and comes as a limited edition, this is an interesting card.
Regarding the price it will cost about EUR 260.- (est. CHF 312.-) which
is really close to the GTX 570. What makes this card most attractive is
the fact that it is a limited edition. Otherwise it is quite an
unspectacular product. |
