With the Strike Battle Spectra, Ozone offers a compact gaming keyboard with mechanical switches. As with all other high-end gaming keyobards these days also this one features a RGB backlight and there are different macro modes. Apart from that Ozone chose to equip this keyboard with an Aluminium plate which makes it look great and it also adds a lot to stability and the overall feel.

Today, we are going to take a very close look at the Strike Battle Spectra gaming keyboard from Ozone. While it is available with other versions of Cherry MX switches, our sample came equipped with Cherry MX Red ones. On the next couple of pages we will check out all the main features of the new Ozone Strike Battle Spectra gaming keyboard as well try to report any shortcomings and, of course, any and every merit that we find.

Closer Look

With the Strike Battle Spectra, Ozone created an interesting gaming keyboard which, as you can see from pictures, has a reduced size. In fact, the device belongs to the TKL series. The Strike Battle Spectra is made mainly from ABS and aluminum, of excellent quality, and with a paint job at the same high level. The upper plate, painted in black, is made of aluminum and gives the keyboard a solid feel and sturdiness. The black keycaps stand out prominently giving the product a both stylish and aggressive design. As usual, the top part of the keyboard is reserved for media keys that can be activated through the FN key placed on the left of the spacebar. Despite its very compact dimensions, the Strike Battle Spectra features customizable macro keys through the free software available from an official website. The Strike Battle Spectra is a mechanical keyboard and uses Cherry MX Red mechanical switches, great for most hardcore gamers. The backlight is RGB with different levels of intensity which can be selected via a dedicated button located at the top right part of the keyboard.

On the back of the keyboard you get a classic label showing the product information and a, non-removable, USB cable which is black and sleeved. As far as the stability is concerned, the Strike Battle keyboard features four rubber pieces arranged in the corners of the keyboard and, of course, two feet, also with rubber ends, which allows you to tilt the keyboard.

Software

Ozone did not include the software in the bundle. In this case, you first have to go to the manufacturers website to download the latest version by yourself. The software GUI is perfectly in line with an attractive design of the keyboard and it is practical and easy to use. With the supplied software, you can configure basically anything you might like to set, such as for example, macros, profiles and much more. The backlight system is completely customizable, in fact, you can choose which keycap will be backlighted and which will not.

Conclusion

General + -
Our final verdict regarding the new Strike Battle Spectra gaming keyboard is more than positive, as Ozone managed to create a solid and high-quality product, almost without no flaws at all. We like the fact that this keyboard is heavy, with an attractive design, that's not over the top. The RGB backlight is clear and precise and the brightness can be adjusted quickly in five steps directly on the keyboard.
Despite the fact that the Strike Battle Spectra is a product with no frills and additional features, you still receive a software allowing you to control colors and program macros.

Manufacturing quality / Ergonomics   + -

The Ozone Strike Battle gaming keyboard is really comfortable to use, all the keys are well placed and easy to reach so you will not find yourself pressing a wrong key by accident. Since this is a compact gaming keyboard, Ozone hasn't placed any additional buttons, but have added a few dual-action buttons in order to offer at least a few shortcuts. The key travel is precise and linear while the feedback is always good and perfect, as you would expect from a mechanical keyboard in this range. Our sample uses the CherryMX Red switches but the keyboard is also available with other CherryMX switches.

Software   + -
The software is simple and easy to use, but, at the same time, includes everything that you might need. It is free and fast to download, since it is a mere 10 MB large. You simply could not ask for anything better.   - Easy to use

Recommendation / Price   + -
The starting price of the Strike Battle Spectra on Geizhals is about 110 euro excluding shipping costs. The keyboard is certainly a very good product with an attractive set of features, like the RGB backlight and the aluminum top cover, however we think that the price is pretty steep. Beside that, if you are looking for a compact mechanical keyboard the Ozone Strike Battle Spectra could be the right keyboard for you.   - Gaming
