Product overview
Overview |
|
|
|
The Enermax Ostrog ADV is a mid tower case, which is compatible with ATX form factor motherboards. Apart from that there is also plenty of space for large CPU coolers and massive graphics cards. The front has been covered using a large mesh, which helps realizing high airflow. The top part of the front comes with an I/O panel, which features two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, fan controller, lightning button, headphone and microphone jacks as well as the standard power and reset buttons. Both side panels are solid, well finished and the left one show a huge plexigalss panel. The rear is simple and has all the features you would expect from such a case, including a spot for a 120mm fan and the motherboard I/O panel. The Ostrog ADV comes with a total of than seven expansion slots in red color. In the bottom part you can find a place for an ATX power supply as well as an additional fan spot. The bottom of the case is equipped with four plastic feet that raise and stabilize it. |

Installation
Overview |
|
|
The inside of the Ostrog ADV is spacious, although it might not look like that at a first glance. It's certainly the number of HDD/SSD cages, which are adding to that. As we already said, the motherboard tray is compatible with ATX motherboards and in that context it makes sense to offer quite a lot of HDD slots. On the motherboard tray there is also a large opening behind the socket, so that you can install aftermarket cooling systems without the need of removing the entire motherboard. Around the tray, there are a few openings for routing cables and since there is quite some space between the motherboard tray and the right panel, routing cables behind it should can be done as well. The HDD slots and optical drives can be installed without any problems, thanks to the tool-less system. All the HDD cages are removable in case you need more space. The most interesting feature of this case is that there is a lot of interior space dedicated to the CPU and the graphics department. In our setup, we used a high-end graphics card and there was no need to remove HDD cages. |

From a cooling point of view, the Enermax Ostrog ADV is
well-equipped. Included in the bundle we find two Enermax Vegas placed in the front and one Enermax Twister placed on the rear. This case allows you to install up to two 120mm fans in the front, two 120 or 140mm fans in the top and one 120mm fan in the rear. In addition, in the bottom there is space for an additional fan. Regarding custom watercooling setups there is also a lot of flexibility, since it's for example possible to install a 280mm radiator in the top. |

Temperatures

For testing purposes we're using an MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard, an Intel Core i5-6600K CPU, which receives cooling through a SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 MCE cooler as well as a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G graphics card. To put the CPU under full load, we're running prime95 for 10 min and in the case of the GPU we use Furmark also for 10 minutes. After these ten minutes, we're going to write down the temperatures. The ambient temperature is close to 24°C. |

Conclusion
The Enermax Ostrog ADV is a mid-tower for users who want a fresh case with a good bundle. This case offers plenty of space for any ATX motherboard and you can even equip it with a total of six HDDs or SSD. Also the space dedicated to the power supply is more than sufficient, which really helps with compatibility when it comes to high-end setups. Another aspect we really came to appreciate is the compatibility with the custom water cooling loops; first of all you get three fans with the Ostrog Adv with sleeved cables and the chassis itself comes with lots of slots for additional fans. As we already mentioned you can install 240mm radiators and that itself is good already. It's pretty clear that this case is perfect for anybody looking for a solution with a good airflow. The cable management is well-solved as well but we would still like to see few more extra millimeters between the motherboard tray and the right side panel.
Enermax Ostrog ADV offers a sophisticated lighting system, which can count on no less than 262 LED diodes. This backlighting includes the front and top of the case by offering a "glow" effect that will hardly get you bored. In addition Enermax includes two Enermax Vages fans in the bundle which further add to the lighting effect. Ostrog ADV is available in different colors each of which can offer a different backlight color. The Enermax Ostrog ADV is available on Geizhals at a price of about 124 Euro. In our opinion, the price is appropriate and it reflects the quality and the bundle of the product, since there are three fans and there are also quite a lot of features. Overall this case is an excellent solution for those looking for a well-designed, solid case. The Enermax Ostrog Adv receives 4 stars out of 5.
