The Hyperion is Raidmax's highest end mATX solution. If you're into watercooling or high airflow you should have a look at this particular model, since it offers a variety of options. Despite it's rather small dimensions it appears to offer quite some space on the inside too.
On
the following pages we're going to have a close look at the Hyperion from
Raidmax, which at a first glance looks like an interesting product.

Bundle

| The Raidmax Hyperion bundle is simple and pretty
much straight-forward. The actual box is made out of cardboard with all the basic information printed on it. Inside, we found the Hyperion wrapped up in a plastic bag, and safely placed
between two big pieces of styrofoam, so that even the roughest shipment would not
damage the actual product inside. Along with the case itself, the bundle also includes an instruction manual, which is always helpful, and a few other things including a plastic bag with screws needed for assembly as well as
a few zip-ties.

The Raidmax Hyperion is a very stylish cube PC case made of plastic and steel
and it offers space for mATX and mini ITX motherboards. The front, as well as almost the entire case, is smooth and
there aren't any big openings. The left side panel comes with a large
window, whereas on the right side you find lots of small holes in order
to improve airflow. The I/O panel can be found on the top part and there
we find two USB3.0 and one USB 2.0 port as well as the classic 3.5mm audio jacks.
As we already mentioned the Hyperion offers space for mATX motherboards,
despite the fact, that this case is rather small. You can even build
high-end gaming rigs by combining an mATX motherboard with one or two
high-end GPUs. A closer look at the bottom reveals
removable and washable dust filters. Checking the front quickly, there
is a single, removable 5.25 inch slot, which gives you flexibility
regarding whether you want to install an optical drive or not. The materials used on Raidmax Hyperion are overall well made, only the plastic used
for the front panel looks a bit too light and feels cheap. |

Installation

The right side panel isn't completely unspectacular. In fact, we find a few ventilation holes close to the PSU and HDD area. Nevertheless, as soon as we remove the panel, things become more interesting. It does not take long to see that this case offers a lot of space. What’s very practical for example is the fact that there is a lot of room on the backside of the motherboard. This allows for very neat cable management. Regarding storage devices, it is possible to mount up to a maximum of three 2.5" and two 3.5" drives.
Once the left side panel is removed, we can access the area devoted to components and cooling. As mentioned previously, the Raidmax Hyperion offers plenty of space for mATX motherboards and multi-GPU configurations. Like with all modern chassis there is a huge cut out where behind the motherboards CPU socket, allowing you to mount the heatsink's backplate without removing the motherboard. Regarding storage, there are two additional slots in the bottom of the case.
For our system we used an mATX motherboard with in combination with a mid-range GPU as well as a 240mm AIO cooler on front. If you would like to there is even enough space to install a huge high-end GPU as well as a massive tower cooler.

Ventilation options

As far as ventilation is concerned the Hyperion is well thought and inside the case you will find three pre-installed fans. Two of them are located in the top part of the case and the other one
on the back of the enclosure. Furthermore there is the possibility to put two 120/140mm in the front, two 120/140mm in the top and a 120mm fan the rear part of the Hyperion. In addition there are slots available also on the bottom and the side. If you do wish so, you could install a total of nine 120mm fans. If you’re planning on installing a liquid cooler, you’ll find it very easy to place up to two 240 millimeter radiators in this case. However, should you put a 240 millimeter radiator in the front, then it won’t be possible anymore to use a high-end graphics card. The sledge on the right side of the case is also compatible with 240mm radiators, but we would not be using it for that purpose, since removing the side panel becomes rather flimsy in this case.
If you are a friend of the classic air cooling there is enough room in the Hyperion to install tower coolers measuring up to 155 millimeter.

sleek looking cube case with an overall elegant design. Despite its small size,
the Hyperion offers space for mATX motherboards as well as up to two
high-end GPUs. The build quality is on a good level and the materials are pleasant to the touch. The bundle includes three
pre-installed 120mm fans, where two can be found in the top and one in the back of the case. On the inside the Hyperion offers a lot
of space, which allows one to even build high-end systems based on this
enclosure without running into any issues. If you're into liquid cooling,
you can place one 240/280 millimeter radiator in the front as well as
another one in the top. |

| Raidmax's Hyperion is made of plastic and black painted steel
of excellent quality, both internally and externally. The sidepanels are pretty light.
We did not observe any sharp edges or bad finish at all. Only the front plastic panel is
a bit too light and cheap and not on the same good level as the rest of
the case. The mounting process was easy and very simple. If you want to use
a high-end GPU we recommend you don't put a radiator in the front of
the Hyperion, otherwise your pixel accelerator will collide with radiator.
On another note there is plenty of space for up to
five 2.5" and two 3.5" drives which should be enough for any
system. |

| The design is clean and simple, and the lines of
the Raidmax Hyperion are timeless. Even the space inside is done in a very good
manner. The cooling part of the Hyperion includes two 120mm fans on top and one 120mm on rear.
In total you could install no less than nine 120mm fans. As far as dust filtering
is concerned, Raidmax uses small dust filters in front of all the intake
fans as as well as the PSU.
The Raidmax Hyperion is a cube case, which offers space for high-end
components. The only thing we would really like to see changed is the
additional sledge. In our opinion it should be designed to carry SSDs
instead of fans or radiators. |
