AK Informatica has quite a few very well equipped and nicely built gaming PCs in their portfolio. Their AK Rig Super9 configuration is a high-end system that - on paper - offers great gaming performance and has been combined with a quick processor. At this point we're curious to find how capable this system is when we have a closer look at it using our benchmark parcours.
Today we're
going to review a powerful PC system made by AK Informatica: the AK Rig Super9. On the following pages we're
going to check performance of all internal components as well as temperatures and power consumption
of the entire system.

The AK Rig Super9 is the most powerful gaming PC based on
the Haswell platform, that you can find at AK Informatica, which is based in Italy.
The CM Storm Trooper case measures 578 x 250 x 650 mm with a total weight of 13 kg (about 20 kg with all components inside), and
it's made of solid high quality steel. As you can guess from the size, the CM Storm Trooper is
anything but small and it allows the installation of almost any component
available these days. The case is characterized by sharp lines and edges and
there are no less than nine 5.25" slots covered with a black mesh. In order to make
it easier to carry this system around, there is a practical handle with rubber
coatign on top of the case. The handle has been integrated into the main structure
of the case, which means it's almost impossible to break it. Regarding the I/O
connectors there are two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port and two standard audio jacks. The cooling of the components is
being handled by 120mm and 140mm fans placed at almost any spot available.
Regarding the components inside the case, we find a MSI Z97 Gaming 9 ACK motherboard which has all of the most common
features including both WiFi and Bluetooth. Combined with the motherboard we have a i7-4790K CPU cooled by a Cooler Master Nepton 280L.
A closer look at the memory reveals that there are premium products in the AK Rig Super9.
To achieve great looks AK Informatica is using 4 sticks of Avexir Dragon with red LEDs.
These sticks make this rig look very nice. In the graphics department we find a powerful GTX 980 MSI Gaming 4G
and the power comes from a Cooler Master V750 PSU. Regarding storage there is
one Kingston Hyperx Fury 240GB SSD and a Western Digital Black 1TB drive.

SSD
Crystal Disk Mark
Concerning the storage, on the AK Rig Super 9 we find a Kingston Fury 240GB SSD and a WD Black 1TB HDD. We will not check the performance of the hard disk but only the solid state driver. We tested the Kingston Fury with Crystal Disk Mark and results reflect those declared
by Kingston. The HyperX Fury is based on SandForce SF-2281 and is able to provide up to a maximum of 220 MB/s in sequential write and 470 MB/s in sequential reading.
SandForce SF-2281 based drives aren't the fastest anymore and we would love to
see for example a Samsung 850 Pro in this rig, which would be quite a bit
quicker.

Noise Level
The AK Rig Super9 has multiple noise sources, which include the fan on the CPU heatsink and the graphics card. Despite the large amount of fans
installed, the system was always pretty quiet, since AK Informatica chose the
fans wisely. Looking inside bit deeper, we realized that almost all the feature
low rotation speeds and they're controlled by the fan controller that's been
integrated into the CM Storm Trooper case.
Even with the GTX 980 Gaming 4G at full load, the system was quiet. We only detected a continuous
and audible noise from the pump of the Cooler Master Nepton 280L. It's a pity
that this pump has to run a 6'600 to 6'800 rpm and that it has to be noisier
than the fans installed by AK Informatica. We would really love to see this
point improved.

We're
measuring the temperatures above at an ambient temperature of 22 degrees. In
order to generate a lot of heat we're using Prime95 for the CPU and FurMark in
the case of the graphics card. In both scenarios we haven't
manually set the rotation speed of the fans. The temperatures measured are
prefectly in line with what this system should be offering. When overclocking
the CPU and running Intel XTU benchmark we find see the chip running at 70°C.

Conclusion
If you are looking for a powerful desktop system and you have
plenty of space for a massive system, then the AK Rig Super9 from AK Informatica
is a great choice. Thanks to the large CM Storm Trooper case, the components
inside get good cooling and there is plenty of space also for a neat cable
management. In addition to that AK Informatica chose the components used wisely
and with this rig not just the specs but also the looks are great. Especially
the memory from Avexir in combination with the white LEDs on the motherboard are
just great.
In our tests, the big AK Rig Super9 proved to be fast and efficient. We tested the computer in
in different scenarios, comparing the result gathered with our own platform,
which is based on an
Intel's Core i7-4770K CPU and the same graphics card. The 3D benchmark values,
clearly show that AK Informatica is using one of the fastest graphics cards,
which money can buy these dasys. Apart from that the Core i7-4790K CPU also
offers very good performance in the case of 2D applications, which makes this an
overall very quick system.
The temperatures measured running games and benchmarks are on a very good level, during our gaming sessions with fans at maximus speed we never detected any
throttling regarding clock speeds. Despite the high amount of fans placed in the CM Storm Trooper, the noise produced by the system is very low and on
a very reasonable level. We tested the system in many different scenarios and with different settings,
and especially the fans AK Informatica uses are just great. The only thing we'd
love to see improved is the pump on the Nepton 280L, which revvs at 6600 to 6800
rpm, which is simply too high.
As for storage, you get a Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB which provide quick access to the applications and OS, while for games and various other storage, you get a standard 1TB HDD. We have tested the SSD with Crystal Disk Mark and the results achieved reflect the speed
communicated by the manufacturer. Nevertheless there are faster SSDs around than
the SandForce SF-2281 based HyperX Fury and would appreciate something like a
Samsung PM 850 Pro in this system.
Now, we come to the price: The
AK Rig Super9 is available
at AK Informatica for 2261 Euro. We configured a PC system using the same components at Geizhals.eu and the price difference between the two configurations is very low.
The amount you pay extra to AK Informatica is more than justified, since you get
a very nicely and neatly built PC with pre-installed operating system.
Recommendation
The AK Rig Super9 is an excellent high-end gaming PC, if you are looking for a big system with a powerful CPU and graphics card, it's definitely worth the 2261 Euro AK
Informatica is asking for it.
The AK Rig Super9
receives very good
4.5 out of 5 stars.
