With the V900, Rapoo has a gaming mouse in its portfolio, which is suitable for right handed gamers and apart from that the rodent comes with a high-res laser sensor from PixArt. There is also a customizable backlight as well as programmable buttons. At a first glance also the design is looking good and at this point we're rather curious to see whether Rapoo is able to convince us with this product or not.

Closer Look

The most interesting feature of the V900 is definitely its body, which is made from parts that offer different grip styles as well as a rough and smooth surfaces. The shape is pretty classic with average dimensions. The left side offers some extra space for the grip of your thumb. The materials are well-desinged and implemented and like usual, there is a lot of attention to details. The rough and porous surfaces ensure an excellent grip, while the smooth top with its almost velvety finish makes the mouse very comfortable right from the beginning. The shape and arrangement of buttons make the mouse asymmetrical and usable only by right-handers. The wheel, which is made from plastic and covered almost entirely with rubber, is big, strong and provides excellent grip as well as tactile feedback. Right behind the wheel, there is a button to increase/decrease the DPI. On the back of the mouse there is the Rapoo logo placed on a silver area.

Back

The V900 uses an laser sensor, the VPRO Gaming Laser Sensor (powered by Avago), which is able to reach 8200 DPI resolution in 100DPI steps. Under the mouse there are four small black teflon feet arranged in a way to ensure a low friction and the bottom part also features a small button for backlight control. The sensor is located in the central part of the mouse. Despite being a gaming mouse you can't adjust the weight, however, the V900 is in our opinion not completely well balanced and is a bit too heavy on the rear part. The cable is 1.8 meters long, sleeved and with gold USB connector.

Software

Unlike many other manufacturers, Rapoo does not include the software inside the package but you can always download it from the official website. The software GUI is perfectly in line with the attractive design of the mouse and it is practical and easy to use. With the supplied software, you can configure basically everything you might like to set yourself, such as for example, lighting, DPI, macros and much more.

Conclusion

General + -
The Rapoo V900 is a solid product, and overall, we were impressed by the build quality and a very good shape. The build quality is on an expected level and all the materials are perfect. The size of the V900 make it suitable for palm grip users. Even the pads are excellent, generous in size and good on any surface. The only downside might be the balancing, since the weight (115 grams) is more focused on the rear part of the mouse.   - Design
- Build quality
- Not well balanced

Performance / Ergonomics   + -
As usual, we used the Rapoo V900 gaming mouse in both 2D and 3D environments in our tests. After a few days of use with standard office applications we can say that, despite being a gaming mouse, Rapoo's new gaming mouse behaves very well in those scenarios as well as in gaming ones. We tested the Rapoo V900 with RTS and FPS games without any problems. The ergonomics of the mouse is always very subjective but we did not experience any excessive hand fatigue. The Rapoo V900 features RGB backlight which is clear and precise as well as gives the mouse a rather elegant design. The backlight can be activated and changed through the management software.   - Comfort
- Glide pads
- Backlight

Software   + -
The Rapoo software is a pleasant surprise. It is well-structured, easy to use and with a tons of options. You will be able to change the aesthetics as well as all the functional aspects.   - Easy to use

Recommendation / Price   + -
If you are looking for a highly customizable gaming mouse with five buttons, RGB backlight and good build quality, then the Rapoo V900 is worth a closer look. The Rapoo V900 is available for 59 Euro at Geizhals, which we think is a bit a steep price compared to the competition and the feature set that it offers.
