Meanwhile Logitech have quite a selection of gaming headsets in their portfolio, since there is the G230, G430, G35 and G930. Today we're having a closer look at the G35, which had been release no less than four years ago. We're rather curious to find out wether this headset is still able to keep up with the vast variety of other headsets that are out ther ein the wild today. Since this particular model features a USB plug, 7.1 Virtual Surround sound and G-Buttons, it might still be up for a good fight with the competition.

Test conditions

Regarding our headset respectively microphone tests we subjectively describe acoustics, microphone quality as well as ergonomics. The endresult therefore relies also on the tester himself. We're doing our best to ensure comparable results if different reviewers were testing different products. We think these review can be seen as a help if you like to buy a specific product and can therefore be seen as subjective consumer advice.

Wearing confort and ergonomics

The Logitech G35, although no lightweight, are very comfortable and well balanced, mainly due to the materials used and the soft ear cushions. Even the rubber used for the headband is well made, rather soft and pleasant to the touch. The package includes three different headbands that will help you make your G35 more ergonomic.
The headphones are made mainly of plastic but covered with a soft-touch film, without mistakes or imperfections. The headband, made of metal, can be extended up to 40 millimeters on each side (total 80 mm) through nine, well marked, steps. The cable is not removable and rather rigid, Logitech chose to use a high quality tissue. The G35 Gaming Headset features a single USB header and the software is only required if you want use the 7.1 virtual surround mode.
As you can see from pictures, the left earcup includes remote commands for volume control, microphone and three customizable G-buttons. In the back of the left earcup there is also a small switch for the 7.1 surround.

Acoustics

Headphone

Logitech G35 are certainly a fine and good quality headphones, but it really comes down to how they actaully sound. Unlike other manufacturers Logitech chose to use 65 mm earcups with a big soft bolster that isolates your ears. Despite being a gaming headset, we were pleasantly surprised with the sound quality of the sample. During our tests we found an excellent reproduction of highs, mids and bass, Logitech has done a fantastic job with the stereo audio quality.
As for the virtual 7.1 mode, we must admit that we were also impressed. The sound in Battlefield 4 is very distinct and clear, you will be actually able to hear from where the enemy is coming or from where they are shooting and sometimes this can make a big difference. However we have noticed some hiccups in other games, probably due to poor optimization of the game itself.

Microphone

The microphone reflects the quality of the headphones and is definitely above the average, compared to the products tested so far. The noise cancellation works well. The support is quite flexible and with memory effect, you will be able to place it very close to your mouth. As noted above, the microphone can be disabled by pushing the button on left earcup or simply placing it back into its original position.

Software

The Logitech software is not included in the bundle but only available on the official website. The application is simple to use and well designed, in line with Logitech's style. With the Logitech Gaming Software you can customize the G-keys positioned on the left earcup, adjust the mixer and various volumes, check the settings of the surround and, ultimately, alter your voice through a nice disrupting effects.

Conclusion

In conclusion we can say that the Logitech Gaming G35 is a very good product. The build quality as well as the materials fully comply with the Logitech's standards, any aspect or detail have not been left to chance. Despite the fact that the Logitech G35 may seem big and bulky, we found them very comfortable and well secured on our head. mostly thanks to the soft cushions. We particularly enjoyed the presence of the two additional headband covers, which are ideal for maximum comfort.
The sound quality is where it should be, the sound is balanced and the quality of the highs, mids and bass is very good. It is not the first time that we have used a headset with a 7.1 virtual surround and the audio experience is pleasant and definitely works as long as the game is optimized for surround sound.
The software part from Logitech is very easy to use and in line with the excellent design of the headset. Using the Logitech Gaming Software you can customize the G-keys positioned on the earcup, adjust the mixer and much more. If you have other devices from Logitech Gaming you do not need a different software, because Logitech Gaming application is compatible with mouse and keyboard. The only downside of this headset is the cable, which is simply too rigid and long and we would have prefer to see a softer cable.

After all these positive notes you're probably expecting a high price, but that is definitely a nice surprise. According to the price search engine Geizhals.eu, the Logitech G35 Gaming Headset start at a price of 95 Euro. The price is certainly very attractive for a product of this type. The Logitech G35 receive 5 out of 5 stars.
