Display / Input Devices

Display

ASUS equipped the G73JH with a 17.3'' LED-backlit panel which is able to handle full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels. Furthermore the glare-type sheet helps making colors even more vivid. Generally the display is very good except that there are quite a lot of reflections when something bright is behind you. Looking at viewing angles we found out that they are average. From side to side they're quite good but as soon as you start looking at the display from above or below the colors wash out.

The combination of 17.3'' and Full HD is a good solution. Thanks to 1920 x 1080 pixels it's possible to have windows next to eachother with reasonable size and because of the generously sized display even very small letters can be read easiliy.

Input Devices

The G73 has been equipped with a full-size keyobard. Generally it is similar to an Apple-Keyboard where the key are raised only litter above the chassis. The keys itself with their rough-textured surface feel comfortable and also the tactile feedback is adequate. Due to the fact that the spacing is a bit wider than usual it takes you some time until you got used to typing on the G73JH. Normal with a notebook keyboard is that you have a bit of flex which is also the case here and it's also not a negative point in this case.

Taking a closer look at the touchpoint the first thing you see is that it's quite big. The matte surface is a good choice because it can be used precisely no matter if you have moist or dry fingers. On the other hand very uncomfortable is the fact that the button below has a very high pressure point and you need to press it quite heavily until an action is being performed.
