Construction and design

Construction

The Corsair H5O consists of aluminium and plastic. The base plate is made of solid copper and the specific cooling structure is encapsulated by a casing made of plastics. This is also the house of the H5O's pump which produces a silent humming noise. The attached radiator is made of aluminium and the water is forced to float through eleven flat (oval) heatpipes with corrugated band soldered to them. The entire cooling area is being ventilated by a 120 mm Y.S.-Tech fan which comes with PWM functionality.




Design

The H5O is very well made and there are no hints for a sloppy manufacturing process. There is also nothing special about the design. In fact the H5O looks plain and simple.




The 120 mm fan is made of black plastics. It is being driven at 12 Volts and therefore rotates with 1650 rotations per minute. As a result of that it is subjectively noisy. If the fan blades rotate with the PWM controls minimum it is still audible.
