Conclusion

Lets take a closer look at the results in the games we tested. In this case we can see that the GTX 660 Ti is quite a bit faster than the GTX 750 Ti in all benchmarks and games. In The Elder Scrolls V for example the difference between the GTX 660 Ti and the GTX 750 Ti is 38 percent and in Sleeping Dogs performance is a massive 53 percent apart. On average the GTX 660 Ti is a good 25 percent quicker than the GTX 750 Ti.

One of the first things you will notice when digging for reasons why there is a 25 percent gap between these two cards is the fact, that the GTX 660 Ti ships with 11 percent higher Memory clocks than the GTX 750 Ti. Pair that with a 192 Bit memory interface (128 Bit on the GTX 750 Ti) and you get 66 percent more memory bandwidth in total. Other than that the GTX 660 Ti is an overall more complex chip boasting 3.54 billion transistors versus 1.87 billion on the GTX 750 Ti. Translated into Shaders this means, the 660 Ti comes with 1344 shader units whereas the 750 Ti features 640 shader units. But still, this 43 percent difference in shader count only accounts for a 25 percent gap. This means that NVIDIA has definitely been able to increase overall computing efficiency with the Maxwell, when comparing to Kepler.

At this point we also want to have a quick look at power consumption. Running our test setup with the GTX 750 Ti made it consume 15 watt less than with the GTX 660 Ti (39 Watts compared to 54 Watts). Under load we notice, that the test setup, equipped with GTX 660 Ti needed 48 watt more. Especially when it comes to energyefficiency the GTX 750 Ti is running circles around the GTX 660 Ti. In other words: in order to get 25 percent more performance your entire system will burn about 37 percent more power when using a GTX 660 Ti instead of a GTX 750 Ti.

At this point we usually compare the prices of the two cards we've put up against one another. These days the GTX 660 Ti sells for 215 Euro whereas the GTX 750 Ti costs about 110 Euro. But comparing prices of an entry level card is a rather tricky thing, since the two cards have different target audiences and most importantly they are from different generations. But still looking at this topic you can see that the GTX 750 Ti comes with an excellen price/performance ratio.
