Conclusion

General   + -
Generally the Sony Vaio F - VPC-F22S1E/B leaves a good impression and it is a solid multimedia notebook. We especially liked the 16.4 inch display with the very good colors as well its high brightness. Additionally you get a well built keyboard and a precise touchpad. On the other end of the scale you find the cooling solution. Under load the fans become very noisy and disturbing wich means that there is room for improvement.   - Display

Sony equipped the Vaio F - VPC-F22S1E/B with a very good 16.4 inch display. The colors and contrast ratio as well as the brightness were able to convince us. Thanks to Sonys own and comfortable to wear shutter glasses, which are included in the delivery, you can even enjoy 3D movies with the 120 Hz capable display.
The keyobard which includes a number pad as well as separate arrow keys also leave as very good impression. Therefore build quality and responsiveness are very accurate. Even the touchpad is good after you got used to it.

Performance   + -
Equipped with a Core i7-2630QM quad core CPU that features eitght threads, clocked at 2.0 GHz, means that there is plenty of performance slumbering under the hood. Ufortunately in PCMark 7 it wasn't able to outperform the ASUS rivals which remain on the top positions. Because of the midrange GPU the Sony Vaio F - VPC-F22S1E/B is not suitable for 3D gaming or gaming with high resolution and/or high levels of detail. The GeForce GT 540M simply does not offer enough performance for these tasks. If you do want to play recent games you'll have to lower the resolution a use low levels of detail.   - Desktop-Performance - Gaming-Performance

Rating
With the Vaio F - VPC-F22S1E/B Multimedia Notebook, Sony has a solid product in its portfolio. Because of the 3D performance which could be better and the ventilation system which is very noisy under load we give it four out of five stars.
