Conclusion

With the SSD Now V+ 64 GByte Kingston presents a midrange SSD which comes with quite a reasonable price tag. Therefore you get a product which is equipped with Samsungs S3C29RBB Controller which overall in our tables hits the average ranks. Quite a strength is the writing performance which happens to be on a good level.

With consistently more than 130 MByte/s sequential writing performance Kingstons Samsung SSD can performance wise be located between the Intel and Indilinx based products. Taking a closer look at reading performance we see that the drive hits more than 200 MByte/s in every sequential test which will definitely leave a good impression in a productive every day scenario compared to a standard hard drive. Also in our tests which are the closest to every day use - reading 4k blocks randomly - the Kingston V+ SSDNow is able to convince with consistent performance figure.

Overall Kingstons SSDNow V+ with 64 GByte capacity is a good compromise between price and performance. If you play with the thought to get a SSD but you do not want to spend CHF 400.- (est. EUR 250.-) Kingstons V+ Series is a good opportunity to put a foot into this new territory.

The Intel X25-m Gen2 34nm can be bought at Digitec to a price of CHF 199.- (est. EUR 132.-).
