Display

As we already mentioned, Wiko decided to use a HDready AMOLED panel measuring 4.8-inch in diagonal. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The display is good in almost any scenario, but because of the comparably low resolution you can see the individual pixels. When it comes to brightness, color reprouduction and black level the display again performs well. The brightness for instance is high enough to read text when there is direct sunlight shining onto the display. Looking for the backlight sensor, which is crucial for quick brightness changes, we find it in the upper part of the frame and the response time for an automatic adjustment is average compared to other products we’ve tested. Apart from that the feedback offered by the touch screen is perfect, which makes the Wiko Highway Pure 4G feel very responsive.

Audio and Reception

The sound quality of the integrated media speaker is not on the same, good level as the display. As soon as the volume hits two third of its maximum it starts to distort. Apart from that the media speaker is on the backside of the device. If you put the Highway Pure 4G flat on a table this will insulate the noise almost completely. The audio from the headpiece on the other hand was good. Furthermore we were pleasantly surprised by the headset, which comes bundled with this smartphone. Listening to music is actually nice, whereas the bass is warm, the treble is clear and precise and the mids are well present. Furthermore this in-ear headset provides effective, passive noise cancelling.

Signal reception is good under any circumstances. The Wiko Highway Pure 4G features LTE, A-GPS and WiFi but no NFC. Also the accuracy of the GPS signal is good, finding a location is done quickly.
