The be quiet! Pure Base 600 is a mid-tower case for those who are looking for a gaming grade case with an affordable price tag. Although there seems to be a reasonable number of features, we have come across issues regarding compatibility with high-end components. However first of all we have to point out that Pure Base 600 features a classy and elegant design and we think that nobody could ever say something negative about the external design of the Pure Base 600, mainly because it features simple and timeless looks, and has neither strange details nor aesthetic flaws.

In terms of internal layout we like the modular system on the storage side and the good number of SSDs and HDDs that can be placed inside this chassis. The main problem with this case is cable management and alongside of that space for the motherboard. Although the case is compatible with ATX motherboards, most of the rubber grommets are fully covered if there is an ATX motherboard installed. More in detail the rubber grommet through which the 24-pin ATX power cable is routed as well as the grommet dedicated to the SATA ports can’t be used. Even if you’re trying to route flat ribbon cable the issue is not solved. We believe this is simply a design error. Since a few rubber grommets are covered the cable management is quite difficult despite between the motherboard tray and the right side panel there is enough space to hide all the cables.

In addition we would like to find more space at the top in order, which would allow for an easier installation of install water cooling components. Although generally this case is compatible with water cooling gear such as AiO units and custom water cooling products, there really should be more space available at the top. Worst case you end up blocking DIMM slots on your motherboard if you choose to install a slim radiator in combination with a standard fan. However you can still equip the Pure Base 600 with a powerful air cooler measuring up to 165 millimeter in height.

At this point it’s impossible to give this case a good rating. Due to the issues related to cable management and space, which come in combination with a price tag that is not in the “cheap” bracket we award the be quiet! Base 600 with 3 stars out of 5. We’re really hoping that the points we mentioned are going to be fixed soon with another revision of this case, since generally this would not be a bad product.
