If you want to install Gelid Solutions Silent Spirit on a Socket 775 or LGA 1366 platform you can do so via push-pins. Therefore the installation is very easy and you wont need any tools. If you want to install the cooler on a AMD-CPU you replace the push pins with a clip.
Installing the retention frame via push pins is very easy.
On a socket 775 mainboard you can install the Silent Spirit in any different direction.
Because of the preinstalled retention frame on an AMD based mainboard you can mount the cooler only in two different directions.
Gelid Solutions provided the Silent Spirit with a very sophisticated PWM functionality which is optimized for every day use. Therefore the fans rotation speed is non-linear adapted to the heat dissipation of the CPU. It is a matter of fact, that the CPU is idle most of the time and in this case the rotation speed of the fan goes all the way down to 900 rpm and you get a low noise level. In the case that the CPU is under full load the fan can reach a maximum of 2400 rpm.
