Closer Look
Having a first look at the EpicGear Gekkota quickly shows that this is a well and ergonomically designed gaming mouse. The shape and arrangement of buttons make the mouse symmetrical and ambidextrous, so right- and left-handed gamers can use this mouse. Other than that, the EpicGear Gekkota features a very grippy surface with a black matte finish. The materials used are of excellent quality, and even the softouch is well made and very comfortable. On both sides, there are two buttons to operate with your thumb. The wheel, which is made of plastic and covered almost entirely with rubber, is big, strong and provides excellent grip as well as a tactile feedback. Positioned behind the mouse wheel are two buttons for the control of DPI as well as four small LEDs that show the DPI level. In total, the Gekkota has 11 pre-programmable keys.
Back
EpicGear decided to equip the Gekkota with a PixArt ADNS-9800 sensor. The maximum resolution is 8200 DPI, which is more than enough for any kind of gamer. The laser sensor is placed at the center and if you are looking for additonal weight, you will be disappointed, since this gaming mouse does not have that type of customization. Net weight of this mouse is 100g, which actually puts it in the light category. EpicGear decided to provide the Gekkota with glide pads made of teflon, which means that these will last a very long time. A closer look at the cable reveals that it has been braided with a black sleeve.
