A Look Inside
be
quiet!'s Straight Power E9 is based on an FSP OEM
design. The first hint for
a high-quality power supply you can get from the transient filtering stage.
On the primary side you find two rectifier.
The FSP6600 controls the PFC Booster and the active Clamp/Reset converter. This PSU has an
active Clamp/Reset topology according to the following principle:
Link
This is an exotic topology; this PSU achieves Gold standard with a normal
Ultrafast Diode at the APFC stage.
The APFC Capacitor with 390uF at 420V and 85°C is from Teapo. The PFC Booster
uses an STTH8R06 Ultrafast recovery diode and 2 IPB60R165 (650V, 0.165Ohm)
Mosfets. This is ok for a PSU in this price range; SiC Diodes are still quite
expensive. For rectifying the secondary side Mosfets are used. This PSU does not
use the famous DC-DC approach; it generates the 5 and 3.3V directly from the main
transformer. This
has the disadvantage that only 1 control parameter is available for 3
independent Voltages. This brings disadvantages in transient load and crossload
scenarios concerning the voltage stability. The output filter capacitors are
from Teapo.
