A few weeks ago NVIDIA has finally launched the GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. This card was supposed to be the new flagship model. The GTX 1080 Ti is faster than a reference TITAN X Pascal. However after just a few weeks, NVIDIA is now introducing another card that doesn't belong to the GTX-series.

The fastest GeForce graphics card around

NVIDIA is going to launch the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card today since yesterday there are already the first reviews out. Several tech sites have tested NVIDIA’s flagship graphics card and it looks like the performance is great. The new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti can be bought for about the same price as the GTX 1080 when it was launched one year. So far it looks like, compared to the GTX 1080, there is a 35 to 40% performance improvement and this card is perfect if you want to play AAA titles at 4K/UHD.

Following the launch of the GTX 1080 Ti NVIDIA releases a new driver supporting the new graphics card. Furthermore the GeForce 378.78 WHQL driver adds some DirectX 12 optimisations for Tom Clancy's The Division. To create this driver NVIDIA has been working with the developers of a wide range of DirectX 12 titles, according to NVIDIA, gamers should receive higher performance using the new API.


Compared side by side with TITAN X Pascal

Our friends over Techpowerup have taken a picture showing the PCB of the upcoming GTX 1080 Ti from NVIDIA. For comparison, they’ve put the naked GeForce GTX 1080 Ti next to the TITAN X Pascal, which clearly shows that those two cards are very similar.


Close to the NVIDIA TITAN X Pascal

NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 Ti has been spotted in the Futuremark's 3DMark database, showcasing performance that is similar to the flagship TITAN X Pascal. According to NVIDIA the card should be faster than a reference TITAN X Pascal and 30% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080. The results posted in the 3DMark Orb have been gathered using the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.


Thanks to quicker memory chips

Following the launch of the GTX 1080 Ti, NVIDIA has now announced two new enhanced GTX 1080 and GTX 1060 GPU variants. Both cards come with an impressively quick memory. At the moment NVIDIA has not yet announced the availability of these GPUs, or if they will be coming with a different name like the GTX 1080 Boost or GTX 1060 Ti.


Priced at $699 US

NVIDIA has finally been hosting a livestream announcing their new high-end GTX 1080 Ti graphic card. The new flagship model features 3584 CUDA Cores, 224 Texture Units, a 352-bit memory controller and 11 GB of GDDR5X memory. The card should be faster than a reference Titan X Pascale and 30% faster compared than the GeForce GTX 1080.

Although we have already mentioned that NVIDIA might release the upcoming GeForce GTX 1080 Ti quite soon, new information has surfaced on io-tech. According to the latest rumors, NVIDIA could do a paper lunch already during the Game Developers' Conference (GDC), which is scheduled for February 28.

Still no fix for Battlefield 1 for GTX 700 series cards

A few weeks ago we have reported on a critical bug in Battlefield 1, which occurs in combination with GTX 700 series cards, in particular on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770. Although NVIDIA published several driver updates following the launch of Battlefield 1 there isn't still a fix for this game. According to the release notes, the GeForce 378.57 driver update fixes a critical bug in combination with Minecraft.


GeForce Experience required

NVIDIA is going to launch yet another game bundle for customers buying a GeForce GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 graphics card including For Honor and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.


New rumors also on Pascal refresh as well

According to the latest rumors from Fox Business, the next generation of GPUs from Nvidia will arrive this year. Nvidia’s Volta GPUs might be based on a custom 12nm FinFET manufacturing process from TSMC and at a first stage the chips will only be available for enterprise market. Apart from that it’s expected that the Volta based Gaming chips will launch in 2018.


Still issues with Battlefield 1

Following the launch of Resident Evil 7, Conan Exiles and For Honor's closed Beta, Nvidia releases a new driver supporting all those new titles. Meanwhile we’re at version 378.49 regarding NVIDIA’s WHQL drivers. Apart from game support some bugs have been addressed as well.


Still no solution for Battlefield 1

A month ago we have reported on a critical bug in Battlefield 1, which occurs in combination with GTX 700 series cards in particular on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770. Although a few weeks ago Nvidia published a Hotfix for Battlefield 1, today they’ve put yet another Hotfix online. According to the release notes, it looks like issues related to Battlefield 1 and DOTA2 have been addressed.

A few weeks ago we have reported on a critical bug in Battlefield 1, which occurs in combination with GTX 700 series cards in particular on the GTX 770. According to the release notes, it looks like the new release should fix some issues related to Battlefield 1. The new GeForce 376.48 drivers should also address a few issues on Just Cause 3 and Wargame: Red Dragon game.


A new flagship

By looking for a Senior Marketing Manager Nvidia unintentionally confirmed that a new Ti-version of their GTX 1080 graphics cards series is incoming. In job description on LinkedIn Nvidia is writing the following: "980 Ti users get first spot in line for 1080 Ti pre-orders, or Step Up offer". Looking back at previous generations of Nvidia graphics cards, it’s basically been clear as day that a 1080 Ti is about to be launched and we believe that more information on it will be revealed during CES 2017.

It looks like Nvidia and Corsair have put together a little (Christmas) package to easily upgrade your PC to decent performance levels. The PC Gaming Revival Kit includes a graphics card from Nvidia and a SSD as well as power supply from Corsair, while the bundle is set to cost 399 Euro.
