No disabled cores

While Intel Core i7 Sandy Bridge-E parts were simply quad-core or six-core parts that were cut-down from an original Xeon Sandy-Bridge-EP silicon which had eight cores and 20MB of L3 cache, it appears that Ivy Bridge-E will feature "just" six-cores and will not actually be a cut-down version of Xeon Ivy Bridge-EP part.

Celeron and Pentium parts

As detailed earlier, Intel plans to launch entry-level desktop CPUs based on Bay Trail core in near future and first three new parts, Celeron J1750 and J1850 as well as Pentium J2850, have been detailed over at CPU-World.com. Although the list provided by Intel only offers brief details regarding the upcoming SKUs, it does also offer details regarding price.

Four parts ready for launch

According to slides leaked by Chinese VR-Zone, it appears that the launch date for Bay Trail-T platform is set for September 11th and includes four Valleyview-T SKUs, the Z3740, Z3770, Z3740D and the Z3770D.

Flagship to cost US $990

VR-Zone managed to gets some details regarding the actual pricing of the upcoming Core i7 Ivy Bridge-E CPUs that will be a part of Intel's High-End Desktop (HEDT) platform. In case you missed it earlier, the new Core i7 Ivy Bridge-E lineup will include Core i7, 4820K, Core i7-4930K and the flagship, Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition SKUs. The price will range from US $310 all the way up to US $990 for the flagship.

Nothing but a minor frequency bump

Although it was expected that the new Intel Core i7-4771, that will eventually replace the Core i7-4770, would feature a different GPU, according to latest info, it might end up to launch with just a minor 100MHz frequency bump.

Haswell refresh coming in Q2 2014

According to an updated roadmap that recently showed up at VR-Zone, it appears that Intel has delayed the launch of the 14nm Broadwell mobile chips to second half of next year while the refresh of desktop Haswell CPUs has been dated to Q2 2014.

In 2.5-inch, 80mm M.2 and mSATA form-factors

Intel has launched its newest line of high-performance client SSDs, the SSD 530-series. Although it did not detailed the precise specs for various SKUs, Intel did note that new 530-series is based on latest version of the Sandforce SF-2281 controller paired up with Intel's own 20nm MLC NAND chips.

Leaked on retail roadmap

Although Intel is expected to launch its Core i7 Ivy Bridge-E lineup sometimes in September, a leaked retail roadmap, which showed up at Expreview, suggests that Intel might not be done with Sandy Bridge-E platform. The new leaked Core i7-3910K suggest that Intel might be aiming at cheaper Sandy Bridge-E part that could be a big hit in the US $400 price range.

Y-series CPU for fanless tablets and hybrids

Intel has previously announced that it will have a 4.5W SDP (Scenario Design Power) SKU of Haswell and shed some light on it during its analyst briefing held yesterday.

Brings update for H87 and B85 motherboards

Intel apparently did not like what motherboard makers have been recently doing with "non-Z" Haswell K-series overclocking that allows K-series chips to be overclocked on H87 and B85 Express chipset based motherboards. ASRock was one of the first motherboard makers to include such a feature and was quickly followed by the rest of the MB makers by simply releasing a new BIOS firmware.

Fixing USB 3.0 host controller problem

Motherboards that will be based on the C2-stepping and that should fix the design flaw in the Intel 8-series chipset integrated USB 3.0 host controller should come in September 2013, according to a report from Digitimes.

Celeron 2955U and Core i5-4200H in September

According to a report from CPU-World.com, Intel is preparing two new dual-core Haswell CPUs scheduled to launch in September, the Celeron 2955U and the Core i5-4200H.

Launch starts on September 4th

According to a report over at Hermitage Akihabara caught by guys from Techpowerup, Intel's new Core i7 Ivy Bridge-E CPUs should launch in most markets before 11th of September. The launch starts on 4th of September so some regions and markets might get it early.

Narrowly misses Wall Street prediction

The whole PC industry fall is starting to take its toll on big guys as well, including the great and mighty Intel. In a quarterly financial report, Intel reported that its second quarter revenue is US $12.8 billion which is around US $100 million short of previous Wall Street predictions.

Much better energy-efficiency

Although we are still far away from the launch of Intel's 4th generation Core i7 Extreme CPUs scheduled to appear sometimes in September, TomsHardware.com managed to get their hands on an engineering sample of the Core i7-4960X LGA2011 CPU and run some benchmarks to compare it to Intel's previous generation as well as some current generation AMD CPUs.

Analyst doubtful

Almost entire PC market has hoped that the launch of Intel's 4th generation Core Haswell CPUs as well as the Windows 8 and the upcoming Windows 8.1 update will bring the entire market up from its knees but according to some analysts, even Haswell is not doing that well.

These OEM parts have US $20 to $30 lower price when compared to one meant for retail/e-tail.

Coming by the end of 2013

Intel's BGA (ball-grid array) package processors that should replace the LGA one by the end of 2013 have been detailed in a leaked slide, alongside the previously reported EOLed CPUs. The first in line that will use the BGA package will be Celeron and Pentium CPUs.

Since Intel's recently launched 4th generation Core Haswell CPUs based on 22nm architecture is finally coming to market, it is no wonder that bunch of other, older, CPUs will be EOLed pretty soon. By Q3 2013, or simply end of September, Intel plans to phase out some of the previously quite popular Core and Pentium LGA1155 CPUs that should be replaced by Core and Pentium Ivy Bridge and Haswell based parts.
