A good move

AMD has announced that they will rename current FreeSync 2 in FreeSync 2 HDR. This is indeed a good move since quite often you can get confused between FreeSync and FreeSync 2. Since FreeSync 2 is compatible with LFR and HDR, it's correct to add "HDR" as part of its name.


Four driver updates a year

Although AMD Ryzen APUs are very interesting chips since they pack a lot of CPU and GPU power, AMD has confirmed that we will see only a bunch of updates during the year. Raven Ridge APUs will only receive up to four driver updates per year, which is a bit disappointing since you will never get updated drivers for latest games around.


Tested on Ashes of Singularity

According to the Ashes of the Singularity database benchmark results of two AMD GPUs have surfaced. During the Computex 2018, AMD has announced Vega 20, a die shrink of Vega at 7mn. Since AMD is already in sampling stage, we expect to see the launch quite soon.


On Cinebench R15

The first set of benchmarks on AMD's Ryzen Threadripper CPU has surfaced. This time it looks like the 32 cores AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990X has been tested. This model features 32 cores, 64 threads and a TDP of 250W. The leak comes from HKEPC since they actually managed to get their hands on the chip.


You could get a Threadripper 1950X with 16 core

If you are an early adopter of the Core i7-8086K and you have won the Intel sweepstake, you might get a Threadripper 1950X for free. There are several limitations for this special deal, but AMD is actually offering a massive 16 core 32 thread processor for free. In order to swap your Intel CPU with the AMD one, you have to live in the USA.


Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X

Two unannounced processors from AMD have been spotted this week, this involves the quad-core AMD Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X. This two upcoming processors should replace current 1300X and 1500X SKUs. According to this first scores, the performance of the upcoming CPUs is rather good.



With two Vega 10 GPUs inside

On Benchlife a slide regarding a mysterious AMD Radeon Pro V340 graphics card has been published. This card is intended for designer and it sports 32GB HBM2 memory and two Vega 10 chips. During the latest hours we have read several misleading informations about this card so it's better to clear the situation up a bit.


Up to 10% more performance in Verminitide II

AMD has officially released their Radeon Software 18.6.1 Beta driver for GCN or newer graphics cards and AMD Ryzen+Vega APUs. According to AMD, with this new driver users can expect up to 10% more performance in Warhammer: Vermintide II when playing the game using the extreme preset.


Called Wraith Ripper

Alongside with the announcement of Threadripper 2 processors, AMD has unveiled a capable cooler that can handle the rumored 250W TDP under control. According to AMD; Threadripper 2 will come with the Asetek bracket that provides compatibility with leading AIO watercoolers. Furthermore the company has worked side by side with Cooler Master in order to offer a tower cooler as well.


Up to 32 core and 64 thread

AMD announced that we will see Threadripper 2 processors in Q3 2018. These new models will pack up to 32 core and 64 thread and feature the 12nm Zen+ architecture. Furthermore, the CPUs feature many of the improvement that we've seen on the second-gen Ryzen processors.

Only bug fixes

AMD has officially released their Radeon Software 18.5.2 Beta driver for GCN or newer graphics cards and AMD Ryzen+Vega APUs. With this new driver you will not see any performance improvement or additional support for AAA games. AMD has addressed several bugs.


With Vega graphics

The Ryzen Pro series will be available with Dell Latitude and Optiplex series, HP Elite and Pro systems, and Lenovo Think ranges. With Ryzen Pro we will see a wide range of business PC form factors, from thin enterprise laptops to powerful desktops.


They will be not available in USA and Europe

A few weeks ago, ASRock has finally announced its Phantom Gaming graphics cards lineup. The lineup includes four models and all the cards are based on GPUs from AMD's Radeon RX 500 series. Although we were supposed to see this GPUs during this month, AMD is banning this series from the market.



Compatible with Windows 10 April 2018

The Windows update is official out and it doesn't bring huge changes from the previous version, so your old Radeon driver might still work. However with the Radeon Software 18.4.1, AMD improves performance once again.


As fast as GTX 1080

AMD's RX Vega 20 GPU has been spotted in the Futuremark database, showcasing performance that is similar to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, which would mean that the upcoming AMD flagship graphics card won't be capable of competing with NVIDIA's absolute high-end models. The card is clearly an engineering sample running on early drivers and we expect to see more performance soon.
