A few days ago we have reported first informations regarding the upcoming Sapphire RX Vega Nitro+ series of graphics cards. Meanwhile the company has launched two models based on Vega 56 and Vega 64. Compared to the reference graphics card, this Nitro+ series offer better cooling and acoustic performance.

A few days ago, AMD unveiled Ryzen Mobile APUs, which were previously known by the codename Raven Ridge. The launch of these chips is expected to take place somewhen during next weeks and more details are finally starting to surface including benchmarks scores. According to this first scores, the performance of the upcoming APUs is pretty impressive.


During H2 2018

During the Qualcomm's 2nd annual Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, we have seen the first "Always Connected" PCs. Microsoft and hardware partners like ASUS and HP were keen to show off the new PCs with Qualcomm inside. According to Microsoft, with the Always Connected PCs we will see a "a new culture of work".

Antec has announced the P110 Silent case, which offers support for ATX motherboards and up to two 280mm radiators. The P110 Silent is a mid-tower chassis that's been made from steel, ABS plastic and aluminum. Although there is a well-thought internal layout and a very reasonable number of features, the Antec P110 Silent comes at an attractive €119 price tag.

A few months ago, Thermaltake announced their View 22 case. Now the company is presenting a little update on this model, which means they've added tempered glass side panels to it. The View 22 is a mid-tower chassis that's been made from SECC steel, ABS plastic and tempered glass.


Curved gaming monitors

MSI has expanded its monitor lineup with three more models in two different sizes. All of the upcoming monitors feature an 1800R curvature on a VA LED panel, 144Hz refresh rate and AMD Freesync technology. Furthermore they all cover 110% of the sRGB color gamut.

With Air Boost cooler

AMD's Radeon RX Vega cards are still hard to find on retail shelves, but the situation could be improve soon due to the announcement of third-party designs. MSI has announced two Vega cards, the Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8G OC and the Radeon RX Vega 64 Air Boost 8G OC. Both cards sport a reference PCB with a blower-style cooler.


Already during Q1 2018

AMD's Ryzen CPUs have been a huge success during this year and the company is planning for a new series of CPUs. According to AMD, we will see a Zen 1 refresh before the jump to Zen 2 architecture. It's still not clear what kind of CPUs we should expect with upcoming Ryzen series.

It seems like we are spending more time updating drivers than playing new games lately. During the past month we have received four new AMD drivers and it's more or less the same with NVIDIA. AMD has released the latest update to their Radeon GPU drivers, the Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1. This version should give gamers immersive gameplay and more social features.

SO-DIMM memory kits are usually inside laptop but lately even high-end gaming PCs are using this small memory kits. For example the upcoming ASRock X299E-ITX/ac support up to four SO-DIMM memory. Corsair has once again raised the bar for DDR4 SO-DIMM memory with the launch of one new Vengeance kit that rated to DDR4-4000 with 32GB capacity.

To demystify HDR-capable monitors

Buying a monitor with HDR capability can be very confusing. In an effort to make things easier, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) is rolling out DisplayHDR testing tool. This new software includes test specifications for luminance, color gamut, bit depth, and rise time. At the moment the tool is designed for LCD panels but will be soon available even for OLED displays.
