LG has kicked off its press event with the "Simple is the new smart" message which the key way to describe the new LG G3 flagship smartphone. Featuring a 5.5-inch screen with super thin bezels, LG managed to somewhat upgrade the design without sacrificing any of the high-end components and still keep everything as simple as possible.
As noted, the new LG G3 is designed around a 5.5-inch QuadHD 2560x1440 IPS display which makes it the sharpest smartphone around with a 538 pixel per inch density. Thanks to impressively thin bezels, the smartphone ended with a compact 146.3x74.6x8.9mm (5.76 x 2.94 x 0.35 inches) body and 149g (0.35 oz) of weight.
LG claims it managed to avoid the phablet-like design as the LG G3 smartphone is almost the size of a 5.1-inch screen device. The company also made a slight step forward in the actual design compared to the predecessor with metallic-looking matte plastic design making the LG G3 look like a proper flagship. The rear of the new LG G3 also got a slight redesign with new back button design.
Hardware wise, the new LG G3 is based on Qualcomm's 2.5GHz clocked Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC with either 2GB of 3GB of memory, depending whether you are going for a 16GB of 32GB storage version, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11ac WiFi, NFC, IR blaster, 1W rear speaker, 3000mAh battery and a rather impressive 13-megapixel rear main camera, at least on paper.
The rear camera actually features laser-guided auto focus which helps it to determine the range from the object allowing much better focus when taking pictures, even in low light scenarios. The rear camera also feature OIS+ and dual LED flash. The new flagship also has a 2.1-megapixel front camera with 77 degree angle made specifically for selfies.
The new LG G3 flagship smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with completely new Optimus UI skin on top of it and features a couple of new features which we will talk about when we get our hands on it and try them out.
LG G3 is expected to launch in South Korea during this week while Europe should get it in June. The US availability has not been detailed. Although LG did not talk about the price, recent listings confirmed that the 16GB 2G RAM version of the LG G3 will be priced around €549 in Europe while the 32GB 3GB RAM version will go for below €600.
