Google has released its newest statistics regarding the distribution of different Android versions showing that April was definitely the month of KitKat as it gained 3.2 percent of device share and climbing up to 8.5 percent.
While Android 4.4 KitKat might be on the rise, the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.x, 4.2.x and 4.3 still reign supreme by being on over 60 percent of devices. The statistic also shows that Jelly Bean device share is dropping as well as that there is still a plenty of devices running on both the Ice Cream 4.0.3/4.0.4 as well as Android Gingerbread 2.3.3-2.3.7, which suggest that there is still plenty of live entry-level devices rocking Android OS.
Google's main problem with Android OS was exactly the adoption rate and it appears that it is now doing a good job to get as many smartphone on KitKat OS as possible.
