Windows 7 will not be available after October 31

Microsoft fills in Windows lifecycle blanks

Microsoft has filled in some of the rather important and significant blanks on its Windows Lifecycle Chart, showing that Windows 7 will reach "end of sales for PCs with Windows preinstalled on 31st of October.

The list includes Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate on Windows preinstalled systems, while Windows 7 Professional will be available for system builders since its EOL date is still listed as "not yet established."

In a report for ZDNet, Senior Business Program Manager for Windows business planing team, Shad Larsen, noted that the Windows 7 Pro extension is not happening due to the situation with the Windows XP EOL, which is less than 2 months away, but rather for the reason that the Windows 7 Professional remains "the largest part of Microsoft's installed base and is still in the midst of being deployed by business customers, Microsoft wants to make it easy and possible for businesses to continue to obtain it."

The Windows 7 SP1 will get its extended support until 14th of January 2020, according to the latest chart.
