Gigabyte working on yet another Bay Trail motherboard

With quad-core Celeron J1900

Earlier this month many motherboard manufacturers have come up with their own Bay Trail-D motherboard which mostly featured integrated Intel Celeron J1800 CPU, but according to news listings, Gigabyte is preparing yet another motherboard which will be based on a bit more powerful Celeron J1900 2Ghz clocked CPU.

While the dual-core 2.41GHz clocked Celeron J1800 might be enough for most office users, the new mini-ITX motherboard from Gigabyte, dubbed the GA-J1900N-D3V, will definitely pack a bit more punch. The Bay Trail-D Celeron J1900 is a quad-core part based on Silvermont architecture and pacsk 2MB of L2 cache, 2GHz base and 2.42GHz Turbo clock and has integrated Ivy Bridge based GPU clocked at 688MHz base and 854MHz maximum GPU clock.

Although we still do not have a picture of the GA-J1900N, we do know that it has two DDR3 SO-DIMM slots with support for up to 8GB of memory, single PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slot, one standard PCI slot as well as VGA and DVI outputs. The rest of the features include couple of SATA 3Gbps ports, USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 port as well as serial and parallel ports, which makes it compatible to replace most office systems.

Unfortunately, it lacks both the HDMI and DisplayPort outputs and with serial and parallel ports, it is clear that Gigabyte targets office with this one so we certainly hope we will see a similar one aimed at HTPC market with more attention to including better audio, SATA 6Gbps ports and other things which could be useful on an HTPC system.

Currently, the GA-J1900N-D3V is listed in Europe with a price of anywhere between €77 and €87 but we guess it will be a bit cheaper once it becomes widely available.
