Intel rolls out RAID RS3 series controllers

Powered by LSI Technology

Intel has announced its newest Intel RAID RS3 controllers that are powered by LSI Technology and specifically designed to meet the demands of I/O intensive applications, cloud datacenters and virtualized server environments.

The new Intel RAID RS3 controllers bring performance of more than 1 million IOPS in JBOD mode as well as 12 gB/s SAS-3 technology, which doubles the available bandwidth of currently available 6Gb/s SAS solutions, in order to unlock the full potential of PCI-Express 3.0 based systems and SSD storage solutions.

According to Intel, the new Intel RAID 12 Gb/s controller RS3 family provides the next generation of storage performance to meet the current and future demands of today's datacenters and thanks to those entry-level controllers which are also perfect for 3 Gb/s and 6 Gb/s, since they provide a faster processor and also allow for 12 Gb/s data transfer when teamed with a SAS-3 compliant expander, they provide room to grow by paving the way for 12 Gb/s infrastructures as server demands increase and technology progresses.
