EVGA recalls SuperNova power supplies

Luckily just a small batch

With their SuperNova power supply series, EVGA has high-quality power supplies in its portfolio which feature an attractive price tag. Also in our reviews, the EVGA SuperNova power supplies have been able to convince. But today the manufacturer issues a notice, recalling a small batch of SuperNova units.

The recall concerns models from the 1000 G2, 1000 P2 as well as 1300 G2 series and the defect has to do with the manufacturing process. In this regard the entire batches will be recalled which went into distribution after October, 1st 2013.

Regarding the defect, EVGA mentions that certain thermal pads as well as heatsinks didn't receive enough insulation material. There is the possibility that certain parts overheat and therefore trigger the overheat protection, which causes the power supply to instantly shut down.

Meanwhile EVGA has created a website, where you can check the serial number of your power supply. Should you own one of the defective parts, you can start the RMA process. EVGA will replace your unit without adding any additional cost to and the also throw in a t-shirt.
