Already yesterday we've been presenting quite a few new Radeon R9 280X and R9 270X graphics cards and today it's Gigabyte's turn. With the Gigabyte R9 280X Overclock Edition as well as the R9 270X Overclock Edition the manufacturer has two cards in its portfolio which are based on a custom design and they also features Gigabyte's Windforce 3X custom cooler.
GV-R928XOC-3GD is the actual name of the R9 280X Overclock Edition, which ships with a decent factory overclocking, whereas the card runs at 1'100 MHz. Other than that there are the usual 2048 GCN Stream processors as well as 3 Gigabyte GDDR5 memory, which got connected to the GPU via a 384 bit memory interface.
Talking about the R9 270X Overclock Edition or in other letters and numbers, the GV-R927XOC-2GD this card features 1280 GC Stream processors as well as 2 Gigabyte GDDR5 memory with a 256 bit wide memory interface. GPU clock speeds are identical to the R9 280X, which means 1'100 MHz.
As we already mentioned both cards got equipped with Gigabyte WindForce 3X cooler, which should be well capable of removing the heat generated by these two GPU's. Furthermore it will be interesting to see what overclocking potential the R9 270X might have, since the cooler is quite a bit overengineered for this chip.
Gigabyte has not yet made any statement on availability and pricing. We expect the cards to be available shortly and there will be a slight premium for custom cooler as well as PCB.
