Although Nvidia has been pretty silent since the AMD's official unveil of the Radeon R9 and R7 series graphics cards, recent rumors and leaks from Videocardz site suggest that Nvidia might be preparing a couple of mid-range graphics cards as well as the possible GTX 770Ti to counter AMD's recent launch.
Of course, since Nvidia actually has no new chips, or they manage to hide it very well, we will be looking at bunch of re-brands or refreshed GPUs as they like to call it. To be quite fair, it is now already clear that some of AMD's upcoming R9 and R7 series GPUs are also refreshed/rebrands as the TrueAudio will only work on certain graphics cards (including R9 290X, R9 290 and the R7 260X).
According to the leaked GPU-Z screenshot, it appears that the GTX 780, GTX 770 and the GTX 760, all launched in late Q2 2013, will get a new addition, the GTX 770 Ti. Based on "brand new" cut down version of the old GK110 GPU, the GTX 770 Ti will allegedly feature 1920 CUDA cores, 160 TMUs and 48 ROPs. According to the source, the new graphics card could end up with a GTX 780i name but the GTX 770 Ti sounds more plausible.
It should end up with a 1033MHz base and 1150MHz GPU Boost which will actually be the highest clocks on a GK110 GPU. It will also pack 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface and clocked at standard 6008MHz. Early estimates suggest that it could end up to be around 10 percent slower than the GTX 780 and should have a slightly lower price.
This graphics card, if the specification prove to be correct, could easily compete with AMD's R9 290, at least according to earlier performance predictions.
In addition to the GTX 770 Ti, Nvidia is also preparing qutie a few other "new" GPUs that should ease the pressure from the Radeon R7 series. Of course, Nvidia will simply try to fend off any AMD attacks for now while it waits for its Maxwell GPU scheduled for the next year.
