Gigabyte has announced a new addition to the line of 8-series motherboards, the Gigabyte H81.AMP-UP. Based on Intel's H81-Express chipset, the new Gigabyte H81.AMP-UP features support for Intel's 4th generation Core Haswell CPUs as well as outstanding audio features that are usually not found on mainstream platform motherboards.
The new Gigabyte H81.AMP-UP features an upgradeable on board OP-Amp as well as USB DAC-UP. The upgradeable onboard OP-AMP that is usually found in high-end audio equipment should not only offer amplification of the audio signal but also a superior audio experience in general. Upgradeable with additional OP-Amps the new Gigabyte H81.AMP-UP certainly offers a great solution for those looking for a perfect audio signal on a mainstream motherboard.
In addition to the OP-Amp, the Gigabyte H81.AMP-UP also comes with USB DAC-UP via gold plated 2.0 port that provides clean, noise-free and separate power delivery to Digital-to-Analog Converter, which is very important considering that DACs can be quite sensitive to power fluctuations and interference from other USB ports and devices. It also comes with Gain Boost, which are practically onboard switches used to select between 2.5x and 6x amplification modes depending on the output device.
As far as the motherboard goes, it is based on ATX 30.4x19cm form factor, features Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 4 Plus tech, has two DDR3 DIMM memory slots with support for up to 16GB of memory, one HDMI output, two SATA 6Gbps and two SATA 3Gbps ports, a total of six USB 3.0 ports (two via header) and bunch of USB 2.0 ports, one PCI-Express x16, three PCI-Express x1 slots and two PCI slots, Realtek Gigabit LAN and bunch of other features that you will find on most motherboards.
Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not announce the precise price or the availability date for the new H81.AMP-UP motherboard.
