Although Intel is expected to launch its Core i7 Ivy Bridge-E lineup sometimes in September, a leaked retail roadmap, which showed up at Expreview, suggests that Intel might not be done with Sandy Bridge-E platform. The new leaked Core i7-3910K suggest that Intel might be aiming at cheaper Sandy Bridge-E part that could be a big hit in the US $400 price range.
The leaked Core i7-3910K does not sounds as a typo, most due to its different S-spec SR0TN code. Since Intel's current cheapest Sandy Bridge-E LGA2011 part is the Core i7-3930K, which sells for around US $550, the new Core i7-3910K could fit below it and thus be a real hit on the market.
Spec wise, it uses the same Sandy Bridge-E C2-stepping as the flagship Core i7-3970X and apparently works at 3.0GHz. Judging by the naming scheme it could be a six-core part with 12MB of L3 cache and support for Intel Hyper-Threading, Turbo Boost 2.0, quad-channel memory and most likely, the same 130W TDP as the Core i7-3930K.
Unfortunately, other than a leaked and cropped retail roadmap, not much else is known about the new Core i7-3910K.
