Slowly but steadily more and more rumors about AMD's upcoming graphics cards are surfacing, which in other words means, that a possible launch is starting to come closer. Just a few days ago we reported, that AMD is likely to ditch the HD 8000 naming scheme and jump directly to Radeon HD 9000 for the upcoming cards. And now there is some more news on Guru3D, where the guys mention other codenames as well as specs.
These days we also read on Guru3D that upcoming discrete graphics cards from AMD will be launche in October and they will belong to the Radeon HD 9000 Series. Interestingly they mention, that the first new GPU's will be based on the existing 28nm silicon and they are being developed under the codenames "Curacao" and "Hainan".
When it comes to "Curacao's" specs, this chips is expected to feature 2'304 stream processors, Graphics CoreNext 2.0 architecture, 144 TMU's, 48 ROP's and a 384 Bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. Additionally the front-end should bring four new asynchronous computing engines as well as three independent geometry engines. "Curacao" will most likely become AMD's new single CPU flagship and it might belong to the Radeon HD 9900 Series.
Last but not least, there are also rumors about the successor of "Pitcairn", which is being developed under the codename "Hainan". The GPU is expected to feature 1'792 stream processors, GCN 2.0, 112 TMU's, 32 ROP's and a 256 bit wide memory interface. The card should also come with additional ACE's but features a lower count of these engines.
