Intel Xeon E5-2600 v2 CPUs specification revealed

During this and next two quarters, Intel will release single-, dual- and quad-socket server CPUs based on Ivy Bridge architecture. The lineup will kick off with Xeon E5-2600 v2 and E5-1600 v2 CPUs scheduled to be available in the Q3 while the rest of the lineup should follow in the future.

CPU-World.com assembled a neat list showing all E5 SKUs that previously reported at Techpowerup thanks to a leak from ASRock CPU support list. Although the list contains model numbers, clock speeds, TDP and L3 cache size, it does not reveal any details regarding the actual number of cores for each model or the Hyper-Threading support and Turbo Boost clocks. The number of cores can be extrapolated via L3 cache size as each Ivy Bridge EP core is paired up with 2.5MB of L3 cache so upcoming E5-2600 v2 lineup will have anywhere between 8 and 12 cores, depending on the SKU.

The TDP ranges from 95 to 115W for standard power parts and between 130 to 150W for the performance chips. The top of the offer are the E5-2697 v2 and the E52695 v2 with 12 cores, 2.7GHz and 2.4GHz clocks and 30MB of L3 cache. The only difference is the TDP which is set at 115 and 130W for these two parts. Interestingly enough, there is only a single low-power part in the list, the Xeon E5-2650L. It should have 10 CPU cores, 1.7GHz base clock and 70W TDP.

According to previous rumors, the E5-2600 v2 lineup will integrate 2 QPI links, up to 40 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and quad-channel DDR3 memory controller with support for DDR3-1866 memory.
