Sony has announced what is currently the biggest brand name smartphone on the market, the new 6.4-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet. Based around a 6.4-inch 1080p screen and powered by Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 800 chipest, the new Sony Xperia Z Ultra will feature a lot of design solutions already seen on Sony's Xperia Z smartphone.
The Xperia Z Ultra runs on Android 4.2.2 OS and is powered by Qualcomm's top of the line Snapdragon 800 chipset. In case you missed it earlier, it feature four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. It features LTE support and comes with 16GB of internal storage expandable by micro SD card slot. It also comes with a rear camera with Exmor-RS 8-megapixel sensor.
The 6.4-inch 1080p 334ppi screen offers 60 percent more surface to work when compared to other 5-inch smartphones and is Ultra Triluminous screen with Sony's OptiContrast and X-Reality tech which is a successor of the Mobile Bravia tech. It can work with anything includin regular pen/pencil.
As noted earlier, Sony Xperia Z Ultra takes a lot of design features from the Xperia Z as it features same tempered glass back which is now complimented by a metal frame along the sides. It is mere 6.5mm thick and also features IP58 certification which makes it usable under water, unlike IP57 on Xperia Z which is pretty much splash resistant.
The new Xperia Z Ultra is expected to launch in Q3 but the price still remains a mystery.
