Intel is gearing up for the release of 4th generation Core i7 Extreme processors that will be based on Ivy Bridge-E core. The lineup will consist of three models that will replace the current Core i7-3820, i7-3930K and the Core i7-3970X and should launch in the second week of September.
According to the latest set of details coming from VR-Zone.com puts the date of the launch anywhere between 4th and 11th of September, or simply, in the second week of September. In case you missed them earlier, Intel's Ivy Bridge-E lineup will include three models, the Core i7-4820K, Core i7-4930K and the Core i7-4960X. All three parts will have the same 130W TDP, fit into LGA 2011 socket and X79 chipset, have support for DDR3-1866 memory and feature official support for PCI-Express 3.0.
The flagship Core i7-4960X has six cores, supports Hyper Threading, has 15MB of L3 cache and works at 3.6GHz base and 4GHz Turbo clocks. The Core i7-4930K is also a six core part but with 12MB of L3 cache. It works at 3.4GHz base and 3.9GHz Turbo clocks. The last but not the least is the Core i7-4820K, a quad-core part with 10MB of L3 cache that works at 3.7GHz base and 3.9GHz Turbo clock.
