Rambus to get US $240 million from SK Hynix

Signed a deal for patents and claims

Rambus and SK Hynix have struck a deal and signed a five-year patent license agreement for memory-related patents as well as all previous claims that Rambus had with SK Hynix.

Although the terms of the deal are confidential but it is known that it includes a license for certain DRAM products for payments of US $12 million per quarter for the next five years. Rambus and SK Hynix case was started back in 2000 and US $240 million was apparently enough to mark a milestone agreement for both companies and bury the legal hatchet for now and next five years.

According to Rambus, this agreement will allow the company to focus more on engaging with the industry on future challenges to bring invention and value to the market with superior solutions and products.
