Intel's new roadmap reveales X99 and DDR4 for Haswell-E

Compatible with Socket LGA 2011-3

A new leaked roadmap that showed up at VR-Zone, shows some interesting pieces of information on the upcoming Haswell-E CPUs aimed to replace the current Ivy Bridge-E platform.

According to earlier details, Ivy Bridge-E should launch in Q3 2013 and should feature three different SKUs that will be compatible with current LGA 2011 socket on the X79 chipset based motherboards. A year after that, or sometimes around the Q3 2014, Ivy Bridge-E should be replaced with Haswell-E platform that should fit into X99 chipset and would be backward compatible with the LGA 2011 socket as well as the new LGA 2013 socket.

The new platform will also bring support for DDR4 memory but that support will most likely be limited to the new X99 chipset and the LGA 2013 socket.

According to the same slide, we could expect a consumer and business Haswell-refresh with new new CPUs and 9-series chipset sometimes in the middle of the next year.
