Powercolor announces SCS3 HD 7850 graphics card

With passive cooling

Pictured earlier last month, Powercolor has now officially announced its new SCS3 HD 7850 graphics cards, the only HD 7850 with a passive cooling design.
Based on AMD's 28nm Pitcairn GPU, the Powercolor SCS3 HD 7850 features 1024 stream processors and works at reference 850MHz for the GPU and 1200MHz (4.8GHz effective) for 1GB of GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit memory interface. As noted, the new SCS3 HD 7850 features a fully passive cooling design with four Powercolor G-shape 6mm thick heatpipes and a large heatsink.

Although it takes up two slows, the new SCS3 HD 7850 is also slightly taller than your average graphics card and since we are talking about passive cooling bear in mind that good case airflow is a must. It features DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

According to Powercolor, the new SCS3 HD 7850 should be available as of next week with a price premium of around US $20/€20. A quick check shows it listed in Europe with a price tag set at €179,90.
