Patriot introduces Viper Gaming NVMe PCIe SSD

Up to 2TB capacity

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drive. This is why Patriot unveiled the new Viper Gaming NVMe PCIe drives, let’s check them out.

The Patriot Viper Gaming NVMe SSD is going to be available in capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Since this SSD is based on TLC NAND flash memory the performance is supposed to be somewhere in the high-tier compared to other NVMe drives. Like most NVMe SSDs out today, the Patriot Viper Gaming NVMe SSD makes use of the M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface.

In the case of the controller there is the Phison E12 installed on the Viper Gaming VPN100 PCIe M.2 SSD. Looking at the performance figures, sequentially reading these drives hit up to 3'450MB/s and 3'000MB/s in the case of sequential writing. In order to keep temperatures on a reasonable level, there is a solid aluminum heatsink painted in black.

So far Patriot has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their Viper Gaming but we are sure we will know more during the upcoming weeks.
