Crytek demos real-time ray tracing in CryEngine

Running on an RX Vega 56 graphics card

During the last months, we have seen a lot of talk surrounding real-time ray tracing technology. At GDC 2018, NVIDIA, Microsoft and AMD have announced that they are working on it. Now Crytek has released the first real-time ray tracing demo for CryEngine.

CryEngine has always been known for raising the bar graphically. The demo is running on a setup based on AMD RX Vega 56 graphics card and unknown CPU. The video shows that ray tracing can be implemented also on AMD cards even without fancy RTX (or soon also GTX) graphics cards.

At the moment there isn't an exact release date, but in a future update CryEngine will support its own version of ray tracing.
