NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti is faster than GTX 1070

Priced at $279

NVIDIA has finally released the GTX 1660Ti graphics card, which is based on the 12nm TU116 silicon having 1536 Turing CUDA cores available. At the first look, the upcoming mid-range graphics card seems to be fast like the GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card in fullHD resolution.

In case you have miss it, the GeForce GTX 1660Ti is NVIDIA's first Turing-powered 12nm gaming graphics card that will not come with RT cores. The card is built around the Turing TU116 chip and it sports 1536 CUDA cores with a frequency of 1'500MHz. The boost clock is set to 1'700MHz. At the moment the card is available with 6GB of GDDR6 memory but in the near future we can expect also 3GB models.

According to the review published from W1zzard on Techpowerup, the GeForce GTX 1660Ti outperform the GeForce GTX 1070 8GB by 4% in fullHD resolution. With the resolution set to 2560x1440, the gap between these two models tend to be slightly bigger. However due to the smaller amount of memory, in 4K resolution the GTX 1660Ti appear to be on the same level of the GTX 1070 8GB graphics.

The power consumption is rather interesting as well. Our friends over at Techpowerup have measured a peak of 141W in full load. In other words this is one of the most efficient gaming graphics cards tested so far.

NVIDIA has recently released the Geforce 419.17 driver that are suggested if you are using the new GTX 1660Ti graphics card. On Geizhals we have spotted several models for every kind of pocket, from 289 Euro up to 370 Euro.
