AMD Threadripper 2990WX tested

More benchmarks soon

We can finally show some of our own results regarding the Threadripper 2990WX. A few months ago we have started testing all the recent CPUs regarding a variety of programs and benchmarks and meanwhile we’re starting to add Threadripper chips.

Our tests confirm what we've already seen with all the other leaks. As usual we have tested the processor with our suite of benchmarks. We have to mention that Black Hole isn't compatible with Threadripper 2990WX, while other benchmarks can't use all the 32 cores and 64 threads available on this monstrous CPU.

Due to the heat produced by the processor, we have tested at default. At standard clock speeds and in the optimized applications, the Threadripper 2990WX is pretty damn fast. For example in Cinebench R15 we have hit 5'049 points which is more than two times the score that you can get with a Core i9-7900X CPU (10c/20t).

Another set of impressive results have been achieved in SiSoft Sandra. The Threadripper 2990WX has reached the first place in every test. For example in Cryptography SHA, the red beast is 348% faster than our Core i9-7900X. On the other hand, the power consumption is pretty high and above 400W on full load.

The benchmarks have been conducted on an ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6 motherboard with Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory. In combination with a Corsair H150i PRO RGB 360 CPU cooler and Corsair TM30 thermal compound, the CPU reached 72°C quite quickly running Cinebench R15.

If you want see some specific comparison or benchmark just let us know and we will give a shot!
