G.Skill unveils 64GB Double capacity DDR4 memory

Compatible with upcoming ASUS ROG Maximus motherboards

G.Skill has shared images and specifications on their upcoming TridentZ RGB DC DDR4 memory. With their DC DDR4 memory, G.Skill adds an oversized DDR4 memory module with literally double the capacity. According to the latest information, this memory kit is supposed to be compatible with ASUS upcoming ROG Maximus motherboards and it's not clear if other motherboard manufacturers will add DC compatibility as well.

According to G.Skill, each PCB is custom made in order to handle all the ICs. At the moment there are available two kits rated at DDR4-3200 and DDR4-3000 with CL14 timings, which is impressive considering the amount of memory and the advertised speed. Both kits are supposed to be as fast as a regular DDR4 module.

Nevertheless the biggest advantage of the DC (double capacity) standard is the fact, that for instance mini-ITX motherboards can be equipped with up to 64GB of memory. The fact that these DC modules are almost twice as high imposes new compatibility challenges to cooler manufacturers. For now we can say, that - apparently - users of liquid coolers won’t face any issues.

So far G.Skill has not yet disclosed any information on pricing and/or availability regarding their TridentZ RGB DC kits.
