GeForce RTX 2070 available on October 17th

The affordable cards are coming

Now that the GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti have been launch and are finally available - at least the Founders Editions cards - NVIDIA has announced the launch date of the more affordable Turing based card. According to the latest information the GeForce RTX 2070 is going to hit the shelves on October 17th.

Although the GeForce RTX 2070 is going to be more affordable it’s not going to be cheap. At $499 US, it costs about $120 US more than what NVIDIA was asking for the GeForce GTX 1070 at launch. This is definitely a hefty price-tag of what’s supposed to be an upper mid-range pixel accelerator.

Keeping in mind that this is the pricing for the Founders’ Editions cards, we imagine that custom cards from AIB partners are going to set you back upwards to $599 US, which is what the high-end cards of previous generations used to cost. Considering that the the GeForce RTX 2070 is based on the TU106 silicon, while the GeForce GTX 1070 was built on the GP104 the RTX 2070 might even be cheaper to produce for NVIDIA the same card from the previous generation.
