NVIDIA unveils GeForce GTX 20-series FE cooler

Two fans seem better than one

Yesterday during their conference NVIDIA has finally shown the new Founders Edition cooler. Already at a first glance it really looks like a step forward since the company is finally making use of a dual-fan design not using a single radial/blower-type-fan anymore.

NVIDIA has finally given it’s reference cooler a complete overhaul coming up with a solution which has the potential to cool cards at a lower noise level in idle as well as under load. The company has been using a single radial/blower-type cooler for a number of years. Although this design had it’s advantages since it was moving hot air out of a chassis efficiently dual- or even triple-fan coolers are more effective at keeping graphics cards cool especially at low noise levels.

A closer look at the cooler shows at it’s quite chunky. There is a dense fin stack covered by a nicely designed metal shroud and on the back side we find a - what seems to be - solid back plate. Each of the two fans features 13 individual blades.

Currently it’s unknown if NVIDIA finally implemented RGB LEDs or if they’re still sticking to the black and green design theme.
