Timeline of all pending Bitcoin ETFs

23rd Aug, 15th Sept and 21st of Sept are important

The American Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently in the process of deciding whether they want to accept or reject an number of different Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). These are certainly amongst the most important decisions regarding the further development of the cryptocurrency markets.

These days the eyes of the crypto world are on the American Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) closely following every single announcement regarding the current pending Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Meanwhile a total of ten different ETFs are being debated over by the SEC, whereas two have been withdrawn and the Winkelvoss Bitcoin Trust has been rejected.

The reason why this is such an important moment for the crypto community is that as soon as crypto assets make their way into the global stock markets the market capitalization of Bitcoin is going to skyrocket. Since Bitcoin has been designed to be an endless resource with a total of 21 Million mineable coins, a higher market capitalization means that the value of a single Bitcoin is going to increase. As we’ve seen during the last significant bull run, which happened by the end of 2017, the market capitalization of any cryptocurrency still has the potential to grow by orders of magnitudes.

Having a closer look at the screenshot below shows that the final deadlines for five ETFs are scheduled for September 21st, 2018, another two ETFs have their deadlines on September 15th and another two are going to be decided upon by August 23rd. If the SEC decides to accept just one of these ETFs then the crypto markets are expected to benefit massively. Nonetheless it’s likely that all ETFs get rejected due to the fact that cryptocurrencies still lack regulation and they’re therefore not safe against manipulation thus their value is still highly volatile.

10 Bitcoin ETFs are either to be accepted or rejected.
