Earlier this week, we have seen the first 3DMark benchmarks for what is believed to be the upcoming Intel Core-i9 9900K. The CPU has shown an impressive TimeSpy score that beats AMD's eight core Ryzen 7 2700X. According to the latest roadmap, we should expect Intels Z390 chipset as well as Intels 9th generation processors during October 2018.


While the roadmap claims a launch in October 2018, the exact time frame isn't yet mentioned. As expected, the launch will include all three unlocked SKUs (Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K) alongside the Intel Z390 chipset. With the Core i9-9900K, Intel will add the first consumer 8 cores 16 threads CPU. The L3 cache should be capable of storing up to 16MB and the TDP rating is 95 Watt. The base clock is at 3.6GHz while single core boost clocks can reach up to 5.0GHz.

With the Core i7-9700K and Core i5-9600K, Intel will launch two unlocked CPUs without Hyper Threading. The Core i7-9700K will come with eight cores while the Core i5-9600K will sport six cores. Having a closer look at specifications, we see that latest rumors claim that Core i7-9700K will come with a base clock of 3.6GHz and a single core boost clock of 4.9GHz. The Core i5-9600K will sport similar frequencies, this chip will start with a base clock of 3.7GHz and a single core boost clock of 4.6GHz. Both CPUs have a TDP set to 95W.

The Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K and i5-9600K are all set to continue using the Intel 300-series chipset. In other words these chips should be compatible with existing Intel Z370 and H370 series as well as upcoming Z390 chipset. The release of Coffee Lake-S Refresh coincides with Basin Falls Refresh. During October 2018 we might see new Intel X299 models as well since Intel will replace everything from the Core i5-7640X up to Core i9-7980XE processors.
