AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX listed

Available at $1835 USD

The retailer Canada Computers & Electronics accidentally has listed the upcoming AMD flagship Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX processor on its website for a short moment. The 32 cores monster appeared with a price of $2'399 CAD, which is roughly equivalent to $1'835 USD.

The Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX is an upcoming AMD HEDT (High End Desktop) processor oriented to power users and professionals. At the moment we haven't official specifications and this CPU has been surrounded by several rumors and leaks. So far we know that the Threadripper 2990WX is based on 12nm Zen+ architecture and doubles the core and thread count of the previous flagship Threadripper 1950X CPU.

The processor should come with a base clock of 3.0GHz and a boost clock of 3.40GHz on all cores. Thanks to the latest information from Canada Computers & Electronics, it's safe to say that the Threadripper 2990WX comes with 80MB of cache (16MB of L2 + 64MB of L3 cache). Several motherboards manufacturers like ASRock, Gigabyte and MSI have released new BIOSes compatible with Threadripper 2000 series processors.

The Threadripper 1950X debuted last year with a price tag of $999. Since the Threadripper 2990WX is basically two Threadripper 1950X's on a single multi-chip module, a price of $1'835 USD looks credible.
