Fortnite achieves $1 billion in revenue

EPIC is on a kill streak

Since EPIC Games launched it’s Battle Royale interpretation of Fortnite revenue has skyrocketed. According to analyst firm Superdata in May alone in-game microtransactions account for $304 million. Comparing that to the already crazy figure of $296 million in April this year we’re seeing 4 percent growth.

EPIC Games launched Fortnite Battle Royale back in September last year and since then the title has brought the company over $1 billion in revenue. Almost half of that has been turned over during the past two months.

Following these developments from the outside it’s simply stunning to see the amount of money that’s being dumped by gamers on in-game items. Since the game has a huge follower base and therefore the amount spent per capita is on a “reasonable” level. Some quick research revealed that Fortnite currently appears to have a player count of 45 million. Concurrently about 3.4 million people are playing the game, which is a simply a stupendous number and massive competition to PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds, which still seems to count 3.2 million concurrent gamers.
